how can my mom’s high blood pressure be lowered ? she is pregnant. is exercise good ? walking ? or what can help her lower her blood pressure and control it. such as foods that can be eaten. Thanks :)
The link below has the best information to lower blood pressure.
Eating oatmeal lowers cholesterol but i am not sure how effective it is at lowering blood pressure.
When a woman is pregnant and has high blood pressure she needs to work very closely with her Dr to get it under control. Often having the baby takes the blood pressure back to normal.

Well for the past 2/3months I’ve noticed a change in my eyes, a slight blurriness in both eyes…
I went to my doctor, he did all the exams possible to determine if i had anything bad going on with me, but he told me i was fine..

he just told me that my blood pressure is considered high…

i decided to go to an ophtalmologist and she told me my vision was perfect 20/20…

I asked her "then why am i seeing things like that?"

and she told me… "when ure about to get diabetes ur eye sight may be affected"

ive been tested for diabetes and thank God i dont have it.

COULD THIS ON MY EYES BE RELATED WITH HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE????

IS THERE SOMETHING LIKE A "CURE" FOR THIS???

I’M DAMN WORRIED..

I WILL APPRECIATE ALL THE HONEST ANSWERS, thanks All…***

Although high blood pressure can impact eyes (very seriously in fact), the fact that the ophthalmologist gave your eyes a "clean bill of health" would indicate to me that you do not have any high blood pressure related eye problem i.e. hypertensive retinopathy, etc. Now, just because you see 20/20, this by no means indicates "perfect vision." There are many different things that can interfere with the "quality" of your vision despite the fact that you can make out the 20/20 letters on the chart. Please click here to better understand the 20/20 numbers http://www.noblur.com/compr.html#20/20

I suggest that you get another eye doctor’s opinion as to why the vision appears to have a "slight blurriness." It could be a small prescription, tear quality problem, accommodative disorder, etc. etc.

Best of luck.

Sincerely,
Dr. Maller

My blood pressure is low, which food will help me regulate my blood pressure normal, so this can not lead to anemia in the future. I want some tips what are healty to eat for people like me, please serious answers from people with knowledge or also have low blood or had it in the past.
I’m just 25 and I just want to be healty, and not feeling weak.

Include chicken or beef liver and other iron-rich food in your diet. Among others are cooked spinach, beef, beans, cereals, eggs, and potatoes. Google for a more detailed list of iron-rich foods. You may also take iron supplements. If you want reassurance, try seeing a doctor because I am not sure if the supplements may have side effects. My mom used to have low-blood pressure. Her remedy was just regular intake of ferrous sulfate tablets.

(Just curious: I currently do not have health insurance, and I cannot afford doctor’s visits and medications).

A glass of wine is a good blood vessel declogger. However, it’s side effect is liver damage because it contains alcohol which makes your body produce acetaldehyde, a known carcinogen.

Try taking Bio Enzyme Plus. It is better than red wine.

Please see more info from my source. They can help.

Hi, I just lost 80lbs with eating healthy and exercising. I was taking hydrochlorothiazide and lisinopril for high blood pressure and just went off both meds a week ago b/c I wanted to see if I cured myself. Well, my blood pressure is good! :)

but I’ve gained 7lbs in one week!! Is that normal? Is it just water? And if it is, will it go away eventually?

It’s water out there, so don’t leave your medications, as it can prove dangerous.

Im 46 years old, and my blood pressure is 147/91, do I need to be concerned? what is the normal range before treatment?

No, you have no need for concern.
The averages for all the world population show that your systolic pressure is usually "100 plus your Age" - and you can’t get much more average than yours, can you?…….

It doesn’t really matter about the diastolic (the lower one).

You see, the B/P figures given by your doctor (or home monitor) aren’t ‘real’ or ‘true". By the simple laws of physics they CAN’T be. So, in spite of "received wisdom" your indicated figures are more a reflection of the state of your arteries than the pressures within them. And so, just like the colour of your hair, your eyes, the length of your arms, or shape of your knees, -or even inside leg measurements-, whether you’re bald, or spotty, or handsome and dapper, these figure you read on your monitor are simply "YOU" - neither good, nor bad.
Think about it… honestly, how on earth can the air pressure inside a bladder cuff wound round your arm tell the pressure within an artery!?

Think of it as a fireman’s hose pipe, and a truck going over it. - It all depends what the pipe is made of, yes? If it’s cast-iron, or weak, elastic rubber, you’d get completely different pressures needed to stop the flow wouldn’t you. - It’s precisely the same with monitor cuff.

On the other hand, CHANGES in indicated monitor pressures ARE pretty true. So if your B/P indicated readings suddenly change, then you should take those CHANGES seriously.

However, you can safely ignore 90% of what you read on Answers.

P.S. Edit … Change that to 99.999% - see all the tosh above…

My psychiatrist told me that if my blood pressure stays high he will not want to prescribe my Adderall anymore. Thing is, I’ve always had high blood pressure, it aint the Adderall doc. But he says he has a hard time prescribing it when it tends to increase blood pressure. I have two days til my next visit with him to fix this. I still smoke, I still drink, I still eat salty food…what’s a boy to do?

The best answer is to change your lifestyle. But that’s too obvious and it’s not going to help you much in two days.

Have you heard of slow breathing? A few minutes of deep relaxation with slow breathing will drop your blood pressure dramatically. People report reductions up to 30 points over 10 after just 15 minutes.

But you need to do it right. It’s not just a matter of doing some deep breathing exercises, which will probably just increase your pressure. Check out the articles below for some detailed instructions.

Better yet, you can download tracks of something called "slow breathing with music". It relaxes you and guides your breathing in the way that lowers blood pressure. You can put it in an mp3 player and use while waiting for your appointment. You’ll be getting the full reductions by the time the doctor sees you.

The results of slow breathing will be only temporary. But if you get into a routine and do it regularly you will get lasting blood pressure reductions.

A family member of mine compains about high blood pressure but doesn’t seem to understand the correlation between salt intake and an increase in blood pressure. Almost every day she consumes about a teaspoon of salt but doesn’t see this as a problem. Isn’t a teaspoon of salt enough to increase blood pressure? and for someone like her, who likes salty foods, what is the maximum amount of salt, if any, that can be consumed daily without increasing blood pressure?
Also, I’m wondering - does sugar increase blood pressure?

Per the American Heart Association, Physicians often recommend keeping salt intake below 2,300 milligrams (mg) per day for most people. (This is about one teaspoon of salt).

But….what other things is your family member eating? Canned foods and a lot of processed foods ARE LOADED with sodium. Most people are not taking the teaspoon of salt from the salt shaker itself, it is from the other foods such as canned and processed foods such as canned soup, canned meats and fish, ham, bacon, sausage, instant cooked cereals, prepackaged frozen dinners, pretzels, potato chips, olives, cheeses, pickles, salad dressing, fast foods, to name a few.

Look for low salt or low sodium items when grocery shopping. Read those labels. You will be surprised how much salt (sodium) is there.

Now about your sugar question: Yes it can - see this link and look at # 115 - It says sugar can increase high blood pressure in obese people, don’t know if your family member is obese or not so don’t know if this applies to their situation: http://rheumatic.org/sugar.htm

Also alcohol increases blood pressure also, but I don’t know if this applies to your family member or not.

Click this link regarding salt intake and other information if you wish:

Hope this helps. Best wishes.

I mean to prevent a heart attack before visiting a doctor.

My grandma always has this problem and doctors told us to give her yogurt and lemonade (without sugar) before taking her to the hospital.

well i have pcos i have the acne and hair on my chin my period is not to irregular just comes a few days late or early every month, not to bad. But the doctor wants to give me birth control pills now i have taken those before and they worked well, but now that my insurance will only let me get generics and they do not seem to work the same. Now i have heard about the benefits of taking the pill but i have also been hearing that htey can cause heart problems and strokes my father died of heart problems and also had a stroke and high blood pressure, my blood pressure only goes high occasionaly it is not high all the time. So my question is do i take the birth control pills and the meds for high blood pressure even though i hate medicine and prefer naturla cures. Also let me say that my blood pressure has been really good for the past 4 months and i have been off the meds. i got one higher reading and they want me back on meds. ok thanks for any tips and info you can give me, ALSo i have heard that garlic pills is good for blood pressure is that true guess i should also mention i am overweight and it is very hard for me to lose weight

I think you should try dietary control. The first thing I would suggest is gluten free. Many many people have issues with gluten. Especially people who are overweight. That’s the first diet I would try. If you don’t see any changes with that, many women with pcos find a lot of success with low carb diets. You could also try macrobiotic or raw diets. They’re a lot more strict, but you’ll see much faster results.

I wouldn’t go for the herbal treatments. You may see marginal results, but used alone, they’re probably not going to do much.

Have you ever had your thyroid checked? There are big changes in the way they view hypothyroidism. I was told for years that mine was fine even though I suspected that it was low. One day, they sent me my test results in the mail and I looked it up and it turns out that the lab standards they were going by were outdated and I was indeed hypothyroid. It helped me lose a lot of weight.

I’ve found that diet is the single best way to improve your health, but not in the old fashioned "eat less and eat high fiber low fat" way. That does very little for you.

If all else fails, sometimes you can appeal your insurance’s decision to only give you generics. You might ask your doctor about it.

Let me know if you have any more questions.
