I think I might be pregnant with my 3rd child. I am 5′7 and weigh 138 pounds so I’m not overweight but I am concerned because I do know that I have high blood pressure and I don’t want it to get worse during pregnancy.

………What can I do to lower my blood pressure?

Try lowering you salt intake

Hypertension can not be cured because blood pressure is controlled by the heart, arteries and endocrine hormones. Arteries looses its elasticity due to arteriosclerosis. It is an irreversible process. Hypertension is to be controlled by diet, exercise and drugs.
Eat a low-cholesterol, low-fat diet. This kind of diet includes cottage cheese, fat-free milk, fish (not canned in oil), vegetables, poultry, egg whites, and polyunsaturated oils and margarines (corn, safflower, canola, and soybean oils). Avoid foods with excess fat in them such as meat (especially liver and fatty meat), egg yolks, whole milk, cream, butter, shortening, lard, pastries, cakes, cookies, gravy, peanut butter, chocolate, olives, potato chips, coconut, cheese (other than cottage cheese), coconut oil, palm oil, and fried foods.
Low sodium intake.(Sodium chloride, Monosodium glutamate, Sodium bicarbonate)
*Regular exercise.
*Stop tobacco smoking.
*Stop consuming alcohol.
*Reduce fat and oils in the diet.
*Obesity - In obese subjects, losing a kilogram of mass generally reduces blood pressure by 2 mmHg. (Abdominal circumference should be less than 100 cms)
*Control Diabetes Mellitus.
*Avoid worry and stress.
*Avoid occupational, aircraft and roadway noise exposure.
Please see the web pages for more details on Hypertension.

I’m a 23 yr old male 5′11 175 …have type 1 diabetes i eat healthy have my blood sugar under control the only thing is my blood pressure is still high…. 137/70 with medication (lisinopril) I basically have a controlled weight and diet. I don’t get much exercise but want to start. What are some other good ways to lower blood pressure naturally?

Your BP is not so high that you should worry about it. Stress, diet soda, caffeine will all cause your BP to rise. You say you are diabetic so you no doubt drink diet soda. Look at the sodium content on the can. Diet is loaded with salt so if you drink soda you are taking in salt. Stress and caffeine will raise it also. You ask about your numbers here so I see they worry you (stress) stop worrying, it’s not life threatening. Just follow your diet, check for sodium in foods & drinks and no caffeine. Don’t stress about it. You’re ok.
