Our family isn’t the rich type, and we also don’t have medical insurance. I am 14 and my mom has High Blood Pressure. I don’t have a dad and i want to help my mom. She is 45 years old with a blood pressure of 150/45. Are there any good exercises or diets that are not too expensive or time-consuming so that my mom can lower her High Blood Pressure?

Using google to find as much related info as you can,you could try using answer engines such as yahoo answer or yedda.com to obtain some useful ideas.however,If you want some direct information, here

    150/45 sounds wrong…the second number should normally be between 70 and 90…maybe it’s 95?

…any way, the best way is
NO salt (forget less, make it NONE at all where possible)
more water - 2L per day
and gentle walking 20 mins per day.

Any kind of moderate exercise will help blood pressure.

Here are other things that will help:

    - If she is overweight, lose weight.

    - If she smokes, stop.

    - If she has more than 1-2 alcohol drinks (even beer or wine) per day, cut down to no more than 2 per day.

    - Don’t eat salty foods (most fast food, food from restaurants, and prepared foods has too much salt).

    - Eat more veggies and less meat.

Cardio exercises like biking, swimming, jogging, taebo. As far as diets go, check the nutritional labels on everything you want to consume. Especially the sodium content. Frozen dinners are high packed in sodium! Use more seasonings like mrs. dash or natural herbs and spices without using actual salt. Taking water pills, drinking water, eating a lot of leafy green veggies are very inexpensive ways to cut back on blood pressure. And stress can trigger it as well. But if she exercises regularly for 20-30 mins, that can help level it out as well. Hope that helps.

Get her a cat or a dog that she can pet… Really! it is proven to GREATLY reduce both immediate and long term stress and high blood pressure. Itg is soothing to pet animals. Also in addition to WHAT THE DOCTOR SUGGESTS, cut out the coffee, excessive sugars, and try to facilitate an atmosphere of harmony. everyone stresses over different things.. for me i get stressed if my house is dirty and when there are tasks building up. Maybe try to help her with some of her responsibilities and house work. Also dont stay out past your curfew… that will really amp up her worry stress… call if your running late so she does not worry too much… Pets are a good solution.
